Trump Family's World Liberty Backs a Platform Reselling Chinese AI Models the Administration Itself Restricted
Reuters reported on Aug. 18, 2026 that World Liberty Financial, the crypto venture the Trump family co-founded, is collaborating with WorldClaw, a Hong Kong-based AI platform. A Reuters review found 43 of the 90 models on WorldClaw's site came from Chinese firms including Alibaba, Baidu, Z.ai, DeepSeek and Moonshot. The Defense Department lists Alibaba and Baidu as Chinese military-affiliated companies; Z.ai sits on the Commerce entity list. WorldClaw accepts World Liberty's USD1 stablecoin, and the Trump family, which owns 38% of World Liberty, earns revenue from its tokens' use.
The arrangement puts a family business on the revenue side of technology the same family's administration has formally designated a national security risk. World Liberty's head of growth, Ryan Fang, has advised WorldClaw; Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump have promoted it on X.
White House spokesperson Anna Kelly said there are 'no conflicts of interest.' A World Liberty spokesman called WorldClaw independent and noted major U.S. firms also offer Chinese-developed AI. Nothing about the collaboration is alleged to be unlawful.
