USDA Unveils $8 Billion Farm Fuel Aid; Trump Ties More Money to a GOP Win

President Trump and Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins announced an $8 billion Harvest Fuel Relief program on Oct. 20, 2026, under the Commodity Credit Corporation Charter Act, to help farmers cover higher fuel and input costs this harvest. At a Kansas rally, Trump said, "When Republicans win, we will pass even more funding for our farmers." USDA had not set an application period or payment schedule; Title I commodity rates are not due until November, after the Nov. 3 election.

Farm leaders said the aid came late and addressed symptoms rather than causes. National Black Farmers Association president John Boyd said he is "farming off my credit cards" and blamed the administration's trade and foreign policy; Iowa Farmers Union president Aaron Lehman called it a "Band-Aid response" and urged an end to the Iran conflict driving up fuel costs. The program follows $12 billion in Farmer Bridge Assistance paid earlier in 2026.

The relief remains unscheduled; Rollins said only that it "will help bring certainty to our farmers."
