Iran Says a U.S. Strike Hit a Wedding in Sirik, Killing at Least Four and Wounding More Than 50; CENTCOM Says It Is Looking Into the Reports

Iranian officials said a U.S. strike early on Sept. 2, 2026 hit a house during a wedding in Kuhestak, in Sirik county in southern Hormozgan province, killing at least four people including two children and wounding more than 50. Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei called it a "war crime." The Iranian Red Crescent Society published images of a building with its walls blown out and asked the International Criminal Court to act.

The strike is reported to have come during a wave of U.S. attacks the military described as targeting Iranian air defense and maritime sites.

CENTCOM spokesman Capt. Tim Hawkins said the military was looking into the reports but did not say whether a formal investigation had opened. The casualty figures come from Iranian authorities and are unconfirmed.
