U.S. Military Has Quietly Run a Nightly Tanker Corridor Through the Strait of Hormuz for Two Months, Officials Tell Axios
Two U.S. officials told Axios on Aug. 19 that the military has quietly established a shipping corridor through a southern channel of the Strait of Hormuz, moving 15 to 20 tankers in and out each night in convoys under Air Force cover. They put average daily flows near 10 million barrels. "We have been controlling the southern lane of the Strait of Hormuz for two months now," one said.

Axios reported some ships in the corridor have been hit by Iranian drones and missiles. The Pentagon has not described the operation publicly.
