Trump Signs Executive Order Renaming 'Artificial Intelligence' to 'Super Intelligence'

President Trump signed an executive order on September 29, 2026, directing all federal departments and agencies to replace the term "Artificial Intelligence" with "Super Intelligence" in official correspondence, public communications and policy documents, and to stop using "AI" altogether. The order also directs the White House science and technology office to propose a federal definition of "Super Intelligence" and identify further executive actions to implement it.

The rebranding follows a series of White House initiatives on the technology, including the previously announced $5 billion Genesis Mission, and comes as polling shows Trump's approval on AI policy has slipped.

The order took effect immediately upon signing; agencies have not yet detailed how the terminology change will be implemented in practice.
