Trump's Stake in Data Center Stocks Grew 600% as He Pushed Industry-Friendly Policies, CREW Finds
Trump's personal stake in data-center-related stocks grew more than 600% over 2025, from $86,000-$415,000 to $2.9 million-$9.5 million, according to a CREW analysis of his 2026 financial disclosure published Oct. 1. The analysis covers eleven companies and excludes major hyperscalers such as Amazon and Microsoft; it found Trump's brokers made 292 trades in those holdings during his presidency. Over the same period, Trump signed a July 2025 order easing federal rules on data-center construction, proposed an EPA rule exempting new data centers from a Clean Air Act reporting requirement, and told communities opposing data centers they would end up "backwards and poor."
CREW argues the growing holdings, paired with Trump's public advocacy for an industry he profits from, exemplify a recurring conflict-of-interest pattern, and notes his ties to business partner Hussain Sajwani, whose firm is pursuing U.S. data-center projects.
The White House says Trump's portfolio is managed by independent, outside brokers who do not take direction from him. No official ethics investigation into the data-center holdings has been announced.
