Fact-Checkers Dispute Trump's Repeated Claim of Ending 'Eight Wars'

Throughout 2025, Trump repeatedly claimed to have "ended" or "solved" eight wars during his second term, a talking point he cited in speeches including an October address to the Knesset. Fact-checkers at multiple outlets found the claim significantly overstated: the list included at least one dispute still ongoing and others that involved only temporary ceasefires or accords rather than durable resolutions.

Trump did play a role in easing tensions between Israel and Iran, India and Pakistan, and Armenia and Azerbaijan, among others, but several of the underlying conflicts saw renewed violence after the agreements, including continued clashes between Cambodia and Thailand and ongoing deadly incidents in the Democratic Republic of Congo despite a June 2025 deal with Rwanda. Armenia and Azerbaijan were not actively fighting when their agreement was reached.

Fact-checkers also rejected Trump's related claim that no other president had ever ended a war, noting that prior presidents oversaw the conclusions of World War I, World War II and the Gulf War. Analysts said the "eight wars" figure functioned more as a political talking point than a verifiable record of diplomatic accomplishment.
