Rubio Hosts Global Ministerial Branding 'Far-Left' Movements as Terrorism

On July 16, 2026, Secretary of State Marco Rubio hosted a "Ministerial on the Resurgence of Political Terrorism" in Washington, convening representatives from more than 65 governments to coordinate against what the administration describes as transnational "far-left" or "radical left" terrorism. According to White House and State Department statements, participants discussed information-sharing and law-enforcement cooperation; Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the department would expand scrutiny of charitable and nonprofit structures for "illicit finance," and Homeland Security Advisor Stephen Miller and FBI Director Kash Patel took part.
