Meta Adds Former Trump Adviser Dina Powell McCormick to Its Board

On April 11, 2025, Meta announced that Dina Powell McCormick, along with Stripe co-founder Patrick Collison, would join its board of directors effective April 15. Powell McCormick had served as deputy national security adviser in Trump's first term and is married to Republican Senator Dave McCormick, giving Meta an additional direct tie to both the Trump orbit and Senate Republicans.

The appointment fit a broader pattern of technology companies adding politically connected figures to their boards or leadership as they navigate antitrust scrutiny, content-moderation debates and government contracting decisions under the second Trump administration.

Critics described it as another example of the revolving door between government service and corporate governance, in which political proximity functions as a qualification and companies hedge regulatory risk by hiring people with direct lines to the administration. Powell McCormick later left Meta's board in December 2025 and was named a Meta executive in January 2026.
