By March 2025, Trump's political operation was charging donors as much as $1 million per seat at "Candlelight Dinner" fundraisers featuring the president, hosted through the MAGA Inc. super PAC. Attendees at one dinner included major Republican donors such as Miriam Adelson, and the operation aimed to raise as much as $500 million over the summer.

Separately, Mar-a-Lago has become a significant revenue source for Trump personally, taking in nearly $77.5 million over the year, more than 50 percent above the prior year, driven partly by rising membership fees. Because the club operates outside the disclosure norms applied to official White House visitor logs, meetings there are not publicly documented.

Critics argue the arrangement blurs personal profit, campaign fundraising, and governance, since donors gain informal access to the president outside normal transparency rules. The practice has drawn recurring criticism as a marker of pay-to-play dynamics, though soliciting political donations is a longstanding, lawful practice.
