Republican Political Committees Send Over $900,000 to Trump Properties
An analysis by the watchdog group CREW found that Republican political committees spent more than $930,000 at properties owned by President Trump during the first six months of his second term, with later disclosures pushing the total past $1 million. The Republican National Committee accounted for the largest share, including roughly $193,000 for a Mar-a-Lago event and about $307,000 for an event at Trump National Doral.
The spending revived concerns first raised during Trump's first term, when political and foreign visitors routinely patronized Trump-owned hotels and resorts. This time the money flowed largely from domestic party committees and elected officials, including numerous sitting House Republicans, effectively routing donor contributions into the sitting president's private companies.
Before Trump's political career, committee spending at his properties had never exceeded $100,000 in a year. Because Trump did not divest from his business empire, critics say every dollar spent by his party at his properties represents a direct transfer from donors to the president's personal finances, blurring the line between political activity and private enrichment.
