Announced on 2026-04-29 for the 250th anniversary and first issued on 2026-07-07, initially only to in-person applicants at the Washington DC Passport Agency. A nationwide release of 250,000 more was announced on 2026-07-30. An interior page carries an illustration of the president over a gold imprimatur of his signature, making him the first living president to appear in a US travel document. The design is optional: applicants who do not want it can request the extra-pages book instead. Note that the State Department's own name for it is the 'Patriot Passport' - like the $1 coin, it carries the president's likeness rather than his name.
