ICE Detains Providence Father for an Hour While He Holds His Children; Agency Calls Account "Fake News"
Two ICE agents stopped a 24-year-old undocumented construction worker, identified by the Boston Globe only as Sebastian, on a Providence, Rhode Island street on October 20, 2026, as he drove his two young children to a babysitter. He says agents trailed him, he struck a curb trying to get away, and got out to walk the children home. Bystander video shows agents holding his arms for roughly an hour while he carried both children.
ICE disputed the account, saying there was "no arrest, no accident, and no detention of children," and called it "fake news." The Globe found no criminal record for him. Agents released him after about an hour and told him to report to an ICE office or risk his family's arrest, the family said.
