- What happened
- Trump fired the commission's two Democratic members by email and the Republican Christy McCormick resigned, leaving the bipartisan body that certifies voting systems with no sitting commissioners four months before the midterms. The firings followed the Supreme Court's Trump v. Slaughter ruling; the White House said the president "reserves the right to remove individuals that may not be totally aligned with the important task of securing America's elections." No lawsuit had been reported.
