- What happened
- Monarez was removed less than a month into the job — the shortest tenure in the agency's history — after refusing to resign. She told senators that days before her firing Kennedy directed her to commit in advance to approving every ACIP recommendation regardless of the scientific evidence, and to dismiss career vaccine-policy officials without cause. Deputy director Debra Houry, Daniel Jernigan and Demetre Daskalakis resigned; Houry cited budget cuts, reorganisation, firings, vaccine misinformation and new limits on CDC communications.
