EEOC Drops Bid to Subpoena a List of Jewish Employees at the University of Pennsylvania

The Trump administration dropped its effort to subpoena a list of Jewish employees at the University of Pennsylvania, according to a court filing reported by Politico on July 23, 2026. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the university reached an agreement under which the agency will not enforce the subpoena and the university will file a stipulation of dismissal.

The original demand, for the identities of employees by religion, had drawn objections on privacy and civil-rights grounds.
