Documents Show the Administration Plans to Move Haiti Deportation Flights From Monthly to Weekly

Documents obtained by The New York Times and reported Aug. 27 show the administration plans to raise deportation flights to Haiti from once a month to once a week, adding hundreds of removals a month. A U.S. official cautioned the plans are not final. Flights land at Cap-Haitien, about 120 miles from Port-au-Prince, where the FAA barred commercial landings this year citing instability.

More than 300,000 Haitians lost the right to live and work in the United States when their Temporary Protected Status ended, and the State Department still warns Americans against travel to Haiti.

The Times reported that internal records indicate DHS ended the protections in June 2025 without input from the State Department, which normally assesses conditions abroad. A White House spokesperson declined to detail schedules.
