DHS Statistics Chief Quits Citing the 'War on Facts' as the Department's Immigration Dashboards Stay Dark

Marc Rosenblum, executive director of the Office of Homeland Security Statistics, announced he was leaving the department after about a decade, Wired reported on July 27, 2026. In a LinkedIn post he wrote that he was 'thrilled to end my relationship with the current administration,' citing 'the war on immigrants, the war on feds, and the war on facts (not to mention the crazy war in Iran and the brazen corruption).' His office compiled department-wide data on immigration enforcement and border operations.

Rosenblum had spent years working to improve DHS transparency and led the effort to publish arrest and deportation figures for the first time. According to the reporting, the department has stopped updating its public dashboards on ICE detentions, Border Patrol encounters and deportations, leaving Congress and researchers without an official baseline for the scale of current enforcement.

Rosenblum told Wired that he and his colleagues had worked in 'a challenging and often hostile work environment,' and said he planned to take a month off before a new role.
