Education Department Launches 'End DEI' Complaint Portal

On February 27, 2025, the U.S. Department of Education launched EndDEI.Ed.Gov, a public portal inviting parents, students, and teachers to submit complaints of race- or sex-based discrimination in publicly funded K-12 schools tied to diversity, equity and inclusion practices. The launch followed a February 14 department directive giving schools and colleges two weeks to end DEI programs or risk losing federal funding.

The department said submissions would help identify schools for investigation. Educators and civil-rights groups criticized the portal as a so-called snitch line that would chill inclusive teaching practices and turn federal civil-rights enforcement against the communities it was meant to protect; the portal was also reportedly flooded with parody submissions soon after launch.

The portal became one of several tools the administration used to advance its anti-DEI agenda in K-12 and higher education, blurring the line between civil-rights oversight and ideological enforcement.
